Huangshan Maofeng (Chinese: 黄山毛峰) is one of the ten most famous teas in China.
In China, Maofen tea is often called Huangshan Maofen, after the place of its origin. The very name Maofeng is written by ideologues like this: 毛峰 and literally means "hairy peaks". The whole point is that Maofeng tea leaves are covered with delicate beige hair. And since only the top sharp tea buds go into the production of this tea, they look like small peaks. "Hairy peaks from the yellow mountain" - this is how the name of this tea is translated.
It is best to use 85-90 °C water for brewing Huangshan Maofen
Huangshan Maofeng differs from other green teas in that, during brewing, the tea leaves immediately float to the surface, gradually begin to absorb moisture and open, resembling a bird's beak with a tongue, gradually sinking to the bottom of the cup. The brewing process in a glass of Huangshan Maofeng tea, according to green tea connoisseurs in China, is considered very beautiful, pleasing to the soul and eyes.
