We got our hands on a very interesting copy of a fresh shen (2017) called "Amber Rain".
In terms of appearance and quality of raw materials, it is not inferior to its counterparts from a higher price category, it contains a lot of fluffy young kidneys.
The pressing is tight, but you can still manage without the help of a knife, albeit with difficulty - a great option for storage (especially since you might be interested to see how it tastes later).
The taste is mild, but very rich and multifaceted - there are dried fruits from shen, depth from green tea and a little "smoke". Despite its youth, the bitterness is not too strong and appears closer to the third or fourth pouring (no more than it happens with green tea varieties), although the "smokyness" is felt almost immediately.
